to open a can of worms.......without any idea

So last night I was having scripture study with the kids before bed
in Tio Jonathons room which we have taken over and has become
temporary Casa de Carvajal
We read
Alma 12:24
" And we see that death comes upon mankind, yea, the death which has been spoken of by Amulek, which is the temporal death;nevertheless there was a space granted unto man in which he might repent; therefore this life became a probationary state; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead."
I said
so, in this life we get to prepare to meet God
what can we do to prepare?
Jaxson looking bereft of knowledge
Well, I just don't get it Mom
how do babies come out of you anyway
Liam rolled to his back spread his legs apart then pointed in between them
They come out from here, right Mom
I said
yes, Liam you are right
Jaxson again
so, what Mom they cut your penis off
Liam, Emme, & I chimed
mom doesn't have a penis
Jaxson
so, what it's like a transformer or something
I said holding back laughter, tears, & anxiety
yep, something like that
Okay so this life is to prepare to meet God, what can we do to prepare ourselves?
All I can say is this mother gig is definitely a mixed bag

When I met the MR. for the first time

I thought " Wow this guy is sooooo handsome"

when he asked my to go salsa dancing with him I thought " Wow this guy likes to dance"

So I did what most would do

I went shopping

I bought an OUTFIT

head to toe in Banana Republic's finest

I met my future Husband

He..........I guess hadn't thought about impressing me with his wardrobe

My beautiful Latin dance partner was wearing

a bad tweety shirt

(tweety bird had on a backwards cap & earrings)

along with a flanel shirt

It was a sight for sure

All I can say is

IT is A GoOd THiNg My mAn cAn DANCE

another funny thing about this night

the night of our first date, this is also the night Angelo asked me to be his girlfriend, when I hesitated he said he would give me until the next day to decide........LOL

He now refers to this conversation as a lesson in why you should be a good missionary .......he was using the commitment pattern

Well IT worked out DIDN'T it

I am glad to have married such a great man

He truly makes me laugh each and every day & that is a BLESSING indeed!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program

To announce a LOSS in the family

yes my oldest is without tooth
this involved** a week of giggling, that grossed the mom out, crying by mom, and one swift PULL by dad
while still a little emotional my love mentioned that this was the first tooth our eldest had got
I still can't believe that he is this old
he has been asking when he would loose a tooth and I kept saying not for another couple years
WRONG MOM
we can see the adult tooth surfacing---yikes I really can't believe this is happening it seems as though yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital, scared to have charge over such a little person
I remember thinking as we drove away from the U of U hospital
they just let us take him, I can't believe they don't ask anything, how do I know what to do with a newborn
Well it seem to have worked out we have had 3 such car rides since each
easier than the previous
I am grateful to Jaxson for putting up with being the first child
I know it is hard teaching your parents how to be
PARENTS
we are just trying to enjoy the learning curve!

a new week has come

it has become a custom of the family Carvajal
to tell stories of how the family came to be

this week I will share some of the reminicings

sunday the kids asked why we were using a vase
as a water pitcher
so the story came out
when Angelo & I were first married we got the most beautiful glass pitcher for a wedding present
I LOVED IT
then a week into the new union my husband
BROKE IT
which was sad in its self---but the same week my love tried to do laundry and ruined my
FAVORITE Mohair sweater
which he tried to make up for that Christmas by buying me a sweater from
LANE BRYANT
----he just wouldn’t listen to the sales women who told him they didn’t carry size 2 in the store
----he said fine if they wont help me I can find something on my own
which he tried to justify by calling me his little fatty--which is an endearment in
COSTA RICA
Jaxson says: did MOMMY cry
Angelo replies: I think mommy cried the whole first year we were married

LOOKING back I just can’t help but
LAUGH OUT LOUD

I am definitely not the 19 year old bride I once was,

and that my love and I are both grateful for!

Just another beautiful day at the Everett 10th street Dock
We had a great picnic on the dock with some fun friends
then we saw some seals playing in the water around the docked boats
the kids played and jumped and laughed
the moms gabbed and talked and basked in the sun
When we were all ready for a beach experience we headed to the cars
Destination: a near by sandy beach
When we discovered
that only feet from where we were picnicing
in a crowded parking lot
my car had lured a criminal
who's intentions were malicious
My purse the object that forced this desperate act
should I have left it on the seat in clear view, of course not
should I have left my Ipod in it, of course no
but I did
and that is that
now here we are
credit cards cancelled, checks cancelled, drivers license needed, and window less
tomorrow the nice insurance people will do there best to ease my pain
for a small fee of course
and all will be almost as it was.....for me that is
but for the criminal I suppose this is not the first or last crime & with it will come consequences
so for us we will pay the deductible and move on
I guess in the long run I am better off
this is what I will tell myself when I wish I could have more play money
this is what I will tell myself while transferring my 4 car seats to a rental
this is what I will tell myself while standing in line at the DMV
this is what I will tell myself when I am looking for a purse that I love as much as my hand painted thrift store score
I guess in the end the damage to me is minimal in the end
the damage

I guess it makes me think of the scripture
"Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God"
Even though my car is worth a lot of $$
the worth of the person who did this is greater

Just another fun filled Monday

We spent Monday at Willis D. Tucker Park
Emeline showed off her new suit
posed like a super model
played with her coordinating bucket
Liam had a blast with the sand
Jaxson was king of the big rock

Chaucer tried to eat sand, the paci got in the way
Then on to Angelo's softball game
Where:

Angelo got a few hits
The kids found a huge sand pile to play in

I ate crasins' until my stomach hurt
the boss hung out on the blanket enjoying the BEAUTIFUL evening

a little bit of crying does a body good.........not so much a family

Our 4th celebration was a fun family event
we decorated our bikes in traditional red, white, & blue
and took a ride over to our wards fourth breakfast
it was nice to have Angelo around for the bike ride
I am really used to doing it on my own
The breakfast was good, the kids had a great time

Liam had a really rough time riding

( he is usually in the bike trailer.........screaming that he wants to ride)

He spent most of the ride crying, and telling us his legs hurt

this may be true, he seems to be in the midst of a huge growth spurt

however it made our family bike adventure not so peaceful

Some friends offered to drive the boyz home from the breakfast, so kind ! I like the kids to get exercise but it is really more important that they enjoy it.

So, Angelo and I ( with the boss on my back, and the princess on his)

enjoyed a non stop, non whine trip home

Thank You

Wilde Fam

Then we were invited to a BBQ & a little bocci ( spelling correct??)ball for the men folk

It was a beautiful evening, I LOVE the weather HERE

We arrived home late

greeted by fireworks on all sides

Amazing

I am a little sad we didn't venture out to see the fireworks over the water

we just couldn't bear to take 4 VERY tired kids too far from the casa

HOPE you all had a great 4th

Out in the Open

I take the Seattle Times paper
and I was excited to see a special Times edition magazine in the paper this week on
how to be "GREEN"
I am trying to be a conscious of my decisions and how they effect the earth.
That said
I was horrified by the 3rd of 10 suggestions
3. USE CONDOMS
I read on to find out that they were actually suggesting that having children was not eco-friendly because of the amount of pollution those children will put out in their life time.
This idea to me is WAY beyond !
I still believe as our prophets have counseled in the
Proclamation to the World
that God's commandment to multiply and replenish the Earth is still in force today.
I am so sad to see the world becoming a place where living together & premartial sex is normal and marriage and procreation is odd or non eco-friendly.
I know that God is mindful of us
I also know that we are blessed when we obey the Lord's commandments both from the scriptures and from our Prophets.
I have been apologetic in the past about the number of children I have, I will not apologize any longer. I know that my children are supposed to be here with me in my family. I know that God has commanded us to have children, I know I have been blest through our obedience to this command. I also know that our living Prophet Thomas S. Monson is truly the prophet of our times. He has been called for this time to help all those who will listen.
I needed to bear testimony of these things, because
I KNOW

Just another day at the beach

Edmonds, WA

Chaucer chilled on a blanket
yes that is a paci in his mouth again
i think he is getting the hang of it
