NORTH WEST OR BUST

Jaxson with tears streaming down his face , you can just barley hear the words he utters in between sobs

" Daaaaaaaaaaaad, she is going to make grocery bags out of my shirts"

Dad ( who probably agrees with the heart broken child that, making grocery bags from shirts is ridiculous) calmly says " Jaxson aren't those shirts too small for you?"

Jaxson replies through his tears " yes, but can't we just give them to DI, I really don't want her to make grocery bags out of my shirts"
I am so stunned at my sons reaction that I, for awhile listen in awe, then I burst out in

really LOUD Laughter

( you can imagine how THAT helped the situation)

Here in the Greater Seattle area when you buy groceries the question isn't " paper or plastic" it is " do you NEED a bag today ? " Yup I always feel guilty for saying yes

then the grocer trys to shove as much food into one bag as possible to prevent you from having too many bags.

I am sure some of you are feeling totally irritated, & it isn't even happening to you. I really have a different view on the subject. I am happy to be lightly shoved into the ECO-friendly movement. No matter what your politics I am sure that if you think about it for a minute you too will agree that the amount of plastic bags we use is on the silly side. For what, just to get food to the house. I am sure that one day we will all look back on the plastic bag thing and wonder WHAT WERE WE THINKING !

So..........I made the bags

thank you Martha..... this truly is a "Good Thing"

and now my answer will be

" no thank you, I brought my own"

*** If you don't think I am CRAZY and you want to make your own click here for instructions

On this note
Another "different" thing we have here is our garbage service. Our recycle bin is FREE yup 100% free then you just pay for your general garbage can. Here is the catch they have lots of different sizes ( I didn't know there were different sizes in garbage cans) The thing is it is really expensive to get the big size you know the one size fits all that you get in Utah ( among other places I am sure) so we opted for a small family size remember when you see this WE DON'T have the smallest available. You can see the recycle bin next to the mini garbage bin for a reference the recycle bin is "normal" garbage bin size.

Isn't it cute & if you get all the recyclables you can it is just right for our family
WELCOME TO THE NORTH WEST

Missing You

Grandma
we know you are missing us.......we are missing you too!!!!
here are some pictures from our day yesterday
we love our new home
we wish you were closer
It poured all day yesterday so .................

Jaxson & Emme played in the rain for a bit

while.......

Liam flashed his GRILL

and...........

Chaucer thought about crawling

then............

Emme wore her pink high tops and took her baby for a ride

and.............

Jaxson talked about how excited he was to see

KUNG FU PANDA on Friday

next.............

Emme tried to give Chaucer a bottle

he wouldn't take it ( no change there)

finally.......
we tried to get a picture
#1 GREAT & what is #2 hiding?
and tried again
#2 wore his grill #4 wasn't looking and #3 was doing the squint smile
third time....maybe not
Well #3's eyes are closed and #1 is not looking at the camera
but that is as good as it gets today folks
there is always tomorrow!

a good way to spend a weekend

We spent our Saturday at the American Cancer Society's Relay for life

my life has been more than touched by cancer
CANCER has been a part of my life since my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 15 years old
my mother went to have a routine baseline mammogram and came back many hours later
CHANGED
our lives were going one direction and then the word
CANCER
altered my families path
my mother spent the next year
FIGHTING
hard
i spent the next year
CONFUSED
&
SCARED
I am at a loss for the words to describe that period in my life so, for now I am going to leave it at that

my mother is a SURVIVOR

in every sense of the word

she is stronger for it

she is braver for it

she is kinder because of it

she is a SURVIVOR

Angelo's Company
had a tent up to raise money for the American Cancer Society
his boss had made these fun marshmellow's shooters
the kids had a blast
Emeline had fun with the duck pond
then the walk
Until we stepped onto the track we were just at a High School Track
the moment we stepped on the track
we could feel that this place had been transformed
the track became a memorial, I believe that when people gather for a cause
the land becomes consecrated to that cause.
The track was lit with luminaries

these are ours
My mothers neighbor
Connie Wiliamson
just passed from breast cancer that ravaged her body
from her brain to her liver
she was a fighter, she fought hard
we remember her
My aunt
BONNIE DAVIS
she is a survivor of Breast Cancer
she fought hard and the cancer lost
My mothers cousins wife
Past this last week from leukaemia
My mother
THANK YOU for SURVIVING
thank you for fighting
you are a SURVIVOR

the track was beautiful when all the luminaries were lit
We are honored to have been a part of this wonderful event
